Introducing our beautiful Hoopoe Linen. The journey of this design began in South India in March 2025, where Susie and her daughter, Anna, first began developing the concept during their travels. Inspired by the intricate, world-renowned artistry of De Gournay, the Hoopoe design features winding, elegant trees filled with exotic birds, blooming flowers, and ripening pomegranates. It is a large-scale, sophisticated print meticulously crafted to bring a sense of natural wonder and quiet elegance to sitting rooms and bedrooms alike. To ensure it fits perfectly into a variety of interior aesthetics, the collection is currently available in a palette of soft, serene greens, yellows, and blues.

The Art of the Process

Creating a fabric this detailed requires a deliberate marriage of industrial scale and an artisan’s touch. We use our signature House Linen as the canvas for this design, applying the pattern using massive industrial screens and hand-mixed natural dyes to achieve a depth of color that feels truly organic. Because of the sheer size of these screens, the printing process is a collaborative feat; it requires a coordinated team of people working in unison to ensure the pressure is perfectly balanced and the final print is flawless across every yard.

The craftsmanship doesn't end once the ink is set. When the linen is initially printed and dried, the fibers can feel somewhat structured and firm to the touch. To achieve the signature, graceful drape that defines our brand, the fabric undergoes a specialised stone washing process. This essential step breaks down the initial rigidity of the fibers, transforming the linen from a textured, raw state into the incredibly soft, "floaty," and flexible fabric our customers love to live with. It is this final touch of softness that makes the Hoopoe as comfortable as it is magnificent.
