The Art of the Carve: Stories from the Workshop

There is a particular kind of magic that settles over our furniture workshop in the soft, golden glow of the afternoon light. It is a place where time seems to slow down, and the air is filled with the rhythmic sounds of traditional craft. Walking through the space, you’ll see walls draped in storied design templates and workbenches where chair backs are being skillfully shaped by hand. It was here, while watching our artisans meticulously carve the intricate legs of our footstools, that we felt inspired to bring these small moments of artistry into the heart of the home.

We realised that the skill possessed by our wood-carving specialists deserved a stage of its own. This led us to develop a collection of decorative figurines—small, soulful features of art designed to sit on a mantle or nestle among a collection of well-loved books. Each piece, from the weathered, bridled horse to the elegant bird perched upon its pedestal, is a testament to a heritage of craftsmanship that honours the unique character of the wood.

These figurines are far more than mere ornaments; they are individual works of art with stories that deserve to be told. You can see the deliberate touch of the artisan in the hand-painted details, such as the playful red spots and "jewel" accents on our Nandi-inspired cow, or the gentle, aged patina that gives each animal a sense of history. Because every curve and silhouette is carved by hand, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. They serve as a tangible connection to the workshop—a way to bring a piece of that one-of-a-kind, handmade spirit into your own living space.
