Wrought Iron & Teak Garden Table

The beauty of handmade furniture is created by the slight imperfections and differences which give it character. Exact symmetry is not the aim. Machines automatically achieve this and the result is somewhat bland and characterless.  Wood is a natural product and the finish and colour is never exactly even, that is the beauty of it.

We use 100 year old  reclaimed Burmese teak to make our garden furniture. Teak from Burma is renowned for its superior quality and using reclaimed mature wood is really sustainable. Teak will become grey quite quickly and may well crack and split a little as it settles into its new conditions, this will not affect its strength. Rain and sun will weather it and it will gradually become a dark grey. We would suggest a scrub with soapy water in spring to clean it. Its weathered appearance will merge gracefully into its garden surroundings and cutomers often use a tablecloth to brighten it up for meals outside. 

We use traditonal wrought iron to make our garden furniture which we paint a dark brown / black. It is very heavy and very strong. Superficial signs of rust are normal but this will not rub off easily and does not penetrate the metal. Most customers prefer this rustic look in their garden but should you want to keep it looking new it's quick and easy to paint .
